The Webanalytics community in Norway is growing

Things are getting into shape with the Norwegian webanalytics community. The numbers are increasing, and the community is getting more organized. My guesstimate would be that the whole analytics community consits of around 100-200 professionals which have a major part of their job dedicated to webanalytics. And the number is increasing. We're seeing more and more full-time webanalytics, both in agencies and in companies. The community in Norway now have WAWs every three [...]

Election time in Norway, Social media is a new tool for politicians

32 more days to go until election day in Norway. For the first time, social media are used by almost every politician and political party. Inspired by the success of Barack Obama, almost everyone looks to social media as their way to victory. But do they know what they are doing? So far it seems to be mostly immature use by overly active politicians, but it's still too early to [...]

Opportunites for new actions in social media

I have previously written about the new element in webanalytics; monitoring and surveillance. But what do you do with all this new data? What actions can you conduct? Analytics tools create a foundation for making rational actions and choices, but do rarely create actions on its own. Some CRM-tools do, but not many, yet. So what do we do with this new data from social media and web 2.0 applications? There's [...]

A live SEO case, the story continues

This is a follow up on the article from last year, A live SEO case. What have I done, and what results have I achieved? What's the next step? Unfortunately, my status updates from December and January, where lost in the moving process from the Scandinavian thread here at Globalthoughtz, to the new European thread. That's why I continue the story with another blogpost to post my experience and learnings. [...]

4Q from Avinash and iperceptions

I must say this is a great tool. I've now been using it for some months on astrolog.no. Thanks Avinash! And last week we implemented the same methodology at DnB NOR (but with an ordinary software soultion) It's as simple as it is brilliant. Try it yourself at: http://4q.iperceptions.com 3 to 4 questions that give fantastic insights to the "WHY". Q1: Based on today's visit, how would you rate your [...]

The new element to webanalytics

What is webanalytics people ask quite often, and many think it's only webstatistics or logfile analytics. But that's not the case. In general webanalytics include three basic elements; questionnaires from the web webstatistics user testing That's if you include sales and transaction data in your web statistics, otherwise that would be a neccecary 4th element. The Monotoring and Surveillance of the web But with the fantastic growth of the social [...]

Web-TV with breakthrough in Norway this year…

I predict that Web-TV is really going to penetrate the market in Norway this year. We already make use of youtube videos and Web-TV or small stories in several newspapers, but now we might really see a breakthrough. What am I talking about? I'm talking about VG Live covering the Norwegian Premier League (Soccer). The soccer assosiation (NFF) have sold the rights so that TV and Net-TV compete against each [...]

The 5 minute test

I lecture about web statistics several times a year in Norway. The courses are mainly targeted for beginners. There's one test that's an easy test to start with, that I do with participants on these courses. Of course only with those that are willing to volounteer their analytics data. I call it the 5 minute test. As the name suggests it only takes 5 minutes and for that reason is easy to integrate into a live course. [...]

lokale søk via Google i Norge

Spennende, men [...]

Is it time to start designing for 1280?

The numbers I'm seeing in my statistics are less then 2% 800x600, 37% 1024 and that the rest of my users have more than a 1280 pixel wide screen resolution. Is it time to start designing for 1280, as opposed to 1024 ? Anyone who has done it? Any ideas as to how use the increased space in 1280, while at the same time not excluding the 37% of users [...]
